Cape Coral Communities

Cape Coral was originally founded in 1957 by real estate developers Jack and Leonard Rosen, they purchased the tract then known as Redfish Point for $678,000.  Their development started in 1957 as a master planned community.  Cape Coral is the second largest city in Florida with a total of 120 square miles, of which it has approximately 10 square miles of water.  Cape Coral is a large peninsula located in Southwest Florida two hours south of Tampa and an hour north of Naples.  The Caloosahatchee River borders Cape Coral by the south and east, the west is bordered by Matlacha Pass.  Cape Coral is located between the city of Fort Myers and Matlacha.

Waterfront Wonderland

Cape Coral is known most for its waterfront property.  There are over 400 miles of canals throughout Cape Coral, which is more than any other city in the world.  The canals are made up of freshwater and saltwater canals.  The freshwater canals typically have access to other freshwater lakes, while the saltwater canals in Cape Coral have access to the Gulf of Mexico.
